Excellent

This iPod Touch case is plastic but has what they advertise as a “liquid rubber finish”. While this finish sounds intriguing, it boils down to a slip resistant finish similar to rubber–but without the bulk of a rubber finish. The fold-out movie stand in the back is a nice feature but I typically hold my iPod Touch in my hands while watching a movie. If someone wants to extend the fold-out stand and prop the iPod up on its side like a landscape picture frame, this is the case to buy.
The liquid-polymer-coated hardshell case
My older 40gb photo iPod has a thick rubber case that I tend to open up while recharging for fear of having the 40gb iPod overheating. However, this Gear 4 iVak hard “liquid rubber finish” case is so think I do not worry about over-heating during a charge.
The clamshell encasement allows easy access to the power button as well as the docking/ear phone connections. I like this case and hope it becomes available soon in the US.

Impressive

iVak is “engineered in the United Kingdom by Vakaadoo which is a company in London, England,” that produces cases and accessories for iPods. The distributor that AAUG received this demo case from is Gear4, also located in the United Kingdom. The iVak line for iPod touch comes in either silver or black. It is hard plastic case that has a rubber finish over it. The case comes in two parts which snaps together creating a snug fit that keeps the Touch safely nestled. The ingenious jigsaw design that keeps the two parts together creates a tight bond that appears almost seamless. The inside of the case which covers the back of the Touch is hard plastic which can scratch the mirrored case of the Touch so I cut a piece of index card to place between the back of my Touch and the hard case to prevent scratches. The case comes with a built-in hard plastic screen that covers the screen of the Touch. It does not impede the touch screen at all. There is a cut out at the bottom which allows access to the two ports and another cut-out at the top for the on/off switch. None of the cutouts for port or button access (more…)
