Maybe Laptop computers speakers were designed to have low volume and poor quality for a purpose! They were not thought of as “theatre-sharing” devices. Having traveled for years with my Laptop, searching for the perfect traveling speakers, I have bought and tried a few.
The moment I first saw the ZAGG USB Laptop speakers was a Eureka moment! Their classic, yet simple design is elegant and a “must have” for any Laptop commuter. Each of the two speakers is composed of 44 mm Wide Nd-Fe-Boron, with a built-in USB Audio Decoder.
The USB connection does away with the need to carry extra wires with a heavy transformer attached, as well as the need for a wall A/C outlet. ON/OFF button control eliminates disconnect and reconnect when the sound doesn’t need to be shared or amplified. This saves the Laptop battery life. A Digital volume control button, located on the back of the right speaker, is easy to use and efficient.

These ZAGG USB Laptop speakers proved very useful at our last AAUG Workshop. We used them to broadcast the Workshop program to all attendees. We were demonstrating iChat by connecting to Robin, an AAUG member in Nicaragua. Everyone in the room could hear her clearly through these great little speakers. I’m sure that we will use them again in the Workshop setting. Both right and left components have a separate sound box with a strong base output, and a Class-D Amplifier. They have a slim body design that is 7.5 “ x 2.75” x 1.25”. Portability is enhanced by the lightweight, but sturdy metallic stands that hold the speakers upright, are easily detachable for travel and storage. The speakers carry a Life-Time Trade-In Guarantee.

All in all, I am quite thrilled to have these lightweight, easy to use speakers that have a very good sound output.
