The e-book “Take Control of Booking a Cheap Airline Ticket” by Sam Sellers offers a systematic approach to the complex world of buying a cheap airline ticket in 152 pages. The author covers purchasing a ticket more than two weeks in advance and two weeks or less for domestic and international flights. He covers which website you should look at first for the best prices and their limitations. Once you have found the flight you want, he recommends a website you should check out to make sure you have the best seats on the plane. He also covers purchasing package deals which are a good way to save money if you need a hotel or are renting a car. The author also covers travel newsletters and which one are worth subscribing to. The book also covers loyalty (frequent flyer) programs and loyalty credits cards and how to best use them.

I found the book easy to read and understand. The book is well laid-out and gives you a system to finding the best deals. The book has flow charts to guide you through the process of purchasing a ticket. In the beginning of the book the author repeated a lot of information on the purchasing tickets more than two weeks out or less than two weeks out. The book would shorter if he did not repeat the same information but it would be harder to read.

I learned plenty of tips that will help me save money in the future. These are a few of the tips I learned while reading the book.

The book pointed out that some websites use cookies that the travel website install on you computer which keep you from getting the best price on the travel website. The author recommends deleting the cookies if you want to see if you are getting the lowest price, switch to a different web browser, or use a different computer.
If you need a hotel or a car along with booking your flight look for a package deal. Most of the airline and travel sites have package deals that let you book at airline ticket along with either a hotel or rental car or both. Your total cost of your trip might be lower but you need to do your research.

Lastly, I also learned which seats are the best on different airplanes. The author likes the website www.seatguru.com. The website gives details on just about every commercial airplane in service airline.

“Take Control of Booking a Cheap Airline Ticket” is a well written easy to understand book. The book offers plenty of tips to save you money on your next trip. For the $10 price of the book you will easily save that amount if you use some of the tips the author shared with the read. I highly recommend the book to any who flies. I own other Take Control Books and I have found that the publisher will give you free updates of book you have downloaded so your book is never out of date like paper books. Happy flying!
